147 birth anniversary of Thanthai Periyar celebrated by All India ONGC OBC & MOBC Employees Welfare Association Mumbai
Mumbai unit of ONGC’s OBC-MOBC EWA, always strived to bring care and love to the needy who depend on others for their survival. All India ONGC OBC & MOBC Employees Welfare Association Mumbai always organized outreach programs to help street children, orphans, abandoned widows and elderly and communicating gestures of compassion and community welfare on behalf of ONGC. On the principal of Thanthai Periyar education is the vital weapon to emancipate all deprived sections in the society ,irrespective of caste ,creed ,religion and regions. ONGC is functioning by the policies of Government of India which is influenced by the philosophies of Thanthai Periyar. In this connection the 147 birth anniversary of Thanthai Periyar celebrated by All India ONGC OBC & MOBC Employees Welfare Association Mumbai on 17th September 2025 organized a heart touching welfare program for Hindu Women’s welfare society Shradhanand Mahilashram Mulund .The Shradhanand Mahilashram was established on 1928.The object of Shradhanand Mahilashram is to provide shelter and education to orphanage women, children and old aged ladies. The Mahilashram has 9000 capacity of orphanage girls hostel. The main aim of programme was the sound practice of contributing for welfare and upliftment of weakest among society.
Chief Guest, ED-Asset Manager, MH Asset, Mr Ajay Kumar Sharma, were grace the occasion and Guest of honour’s Vivek Singh chand ED Asset Manager -Neelam & Heera, Ranbir Singh GGM Chief Geophysical Services, Rupjit Acharjya Head Geophysical Service and Deepak Swaroop Bhatnagar Surface Manager MH Asset and office bearer’s of AI OBC/MOBC Chairperson of OBC MOBC Ms. Swati Pawar, Vice Chairman- Shri. Santosh Patil & S L Pradhan, Secretary Shri. Dattaram Tawade , Joint Secretary BalkrishnaK. Choughule ,Org. Secretary Shri. Milind R. Gaikar,Shri. Shrikant G. Awar Treasurer Shri. Mahesh B. Vishwakarma along with CEC members Shri. Sandeep Revankar,Shri. Shrikant Harwande, Shri Vishwas H. Mhatre, Shri. Resham Shirgaonkar and senior level officer’s of Mumbai also attended the event in Vashudhara Bhavan Auditorium Mumbai. The program commenced with lighting of lamp and garlanding of portrait of Thanthai Periyar whose contributions to society and education continue to inspire generations followed by Chief Guest, ED-Asset Manager,Mr Ajay Kumar Sharma and AI OBC/MOBC Chairperson Mumbai Unit Ms. Swati Pawar address. Chairperson Mumbai Unit Ms. Swati Pawar delivered the welcome address and glimpsim of social reformer and founded the Self-Respect Movement and the Dravidian Kazhagam Thanthai Periyar Thoughts and his fundamental principles of rationalism, equality, humanism ,social justice, women’s rights, and the removal of the caste system.
Speaking on the occasion, ED-Asset Manager, Mr Ajay Kumar Sharma appreciated the gesture of AI OBC / MOBC EA to spend on a noble cause. He said that the amount does not matter, but intention behind the gesture matters most. He passionately spoke about E. V. Ramasamy Periyar and contributions he made for the betterment of the society. Asset Manager complimented the Association for a well-planned event and reiterated that such noble gestures are always welcome. The program followed by distribution of Xerox cum printer cum scanner ; cupboards ; Head phones to Shradhanand Mahilashram Mulund . The new website of OBC &MOBC Mumbai Branch was also inaugurated by dignitaries. light refreshments was arranged for participants.

I shortly spoke with Hon’ble Chairman NCBC, Shri Hansraj Ahir ji, and PS to NCBC Chairman, Shri Rajesh Yadav ji. The NCBC has scheduled a hearing on May 20, 2025, in Mumbai to address the grievances of OBC and MOBC employees.

a meeting of Mumbai branch body was held at 11 high OBC Office on 07/03/2025 at 11 am. 1)falicitation of Newly elected CWC Working president shree Vaibhav Lavekar and Regional sec. Vishwas Mhatre thereafter discussion on verious Association related and employees welfare related issues was conducted. Meeting concluded with verious decisions on website upgradation, CSR initiation and more emphasis on commination of work with the members In upcoming time. next meeting will be held soon.
